The sheet music offered here is for “Engagement Party” (also known as “It’s Over”?) from the movie La La Land. It is composed by Justin Hurwitz. I arranged it for simple piano. This is not in the original key; I believe it was originally in E flat major, and this version is in C major. This is as simple as I could make it while not altering the flow and direction too much.
We could simplify many of the left hand measures further into only two notes (Quarter note and then dotted half note), which lets us retain a little of the movement, or whole note chords (or even single notes!), which makes it considerably easier. However, because I included chords in this version, I decided to write the piece as seen. You can use the base notes of the chords if you want to further simplify. This would edge the piece towards easy piano music if one took the chord root notes on the left hand instead of all the current things scattered throughout.
This is another “Please simplify this” piece. The original piece I tried to give was from RonaldL on Musescore… and that is apparently a modification of a transcription by DJA28. The Musescore version apparently looks a little intimidating, so I rewrote some things: reduced the score; changed the key signature from 3 flats to no sharps or flats; added pedal so as not to have to hold down previous notes while playing new notes with the same hand. I listened to this Youtube video and then altered a bit further.
I have not watched La La Land, so I do not really know the story behind this piece. It seems it should sound comfortable, hopeful, and resigned, though, given the Youtube scene and the piece’s name.
Also, I put this together while feeling sick enough that I am not teaching. I expect there must be at least one error somewhere. Where it is, I have no clue.
