Christina Perri – A Thousand Years – Arranged for Simple Violin

The sheet music offered here is a violin arrangement of “A Thousand Years”, a song featured in the movie The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 and composed by Christina Perri and David Hodges. This version is arranged for simple violin but also contains the lyrics to help one follow where one is in the song and the chords for use as a treble lead sheet. I kept the original key of Bb major. At only 2 flats in the key signature and no accidentals within the music, this seemed appropriate for a late beginner / early intermediate violin student and allowed some practicing of low 1 and low 2s.

Two students, one violin and one piano and both 12, requested this song at the same time. A simple piano arrangement for “A Thousand Years” can be found at Christina Perri – A Thousand Years – Arranged for Simple Piano. Both arrangements were scored after listening to the official music video.

Surprisingly, this song is apparently a lullaby. Okay, whatever. Not quite my type of lullaby, especially in the original form, but it is certainly gentler than many other modern songs. The point is, this should not be played too aggressively. For example, where I noted subito forte, it is broad rather than harsh. Have whoever is playing this listen to the song to understand the desired mood.
